In LED lighting patent technology news, Nichia has dismissed its white LED patent infringement case against an American firm. The white LEDs under dispute are marketed by Wilmar Corporation, a US LED lighting distributor, and apparently the dispute was settled once Wilmar Corporation acknowledged the patent infringement. They immediately agreed to stop marketing LED home lighting products and all products made using the white LED technology under dispute, once they learned about the concern of Nichia.
LEDOracle thinks this is a great sign for the LED lighting industry and maybe it will mean more and more companies currently disputing the use of patented LED lighting technology will start playing fair. Wilmar Corporation is showing the other companies currently fighting over patents for state-of-the-art LED home lighting that you can tell the truth and go forward.
In other LED home lighting technology patent news, Seoul Semiconductor has told the lawyers to begin court proceedings against Philips using disputed LED lighting technology patents in their products. The legal proceeding were filed in German courts in March and Korea in May, and the legal entanglements apparently only concern a few different LED home lighting products made and marketed by the company.
LEDOracle thinks this particular legal battle is likely to continue for a while, since according to the reports found Seoul Semiconductor and Philips haven’t started talking. This battle over the use of modern LED home lighting patented technology could drag on for a while. LEDOracle expects both companies to start preparing for a legal battle that might drag on for months.
LEDOracle has also learned that Osram has also recently filed legal papers concerning the use of disputed LED home lighting technology against Samsung Group and LG in US and German courts. The latest reports also have Osram filing court papers against both companies in Germany and Japan recently, so it appears Osram is going to be paying the lawyers a lot of their profits in the future. The present battles around the world concerning the use of disputed LED lighting technology is starting to get a little old for LEDOracle. Maybe it’s time for these companies to start making cross license agreements, rather than wasting money and time in court. Hopefully in the future these companies and all firms in court fighting over the use of patented LED home lighting technology will learn to work together. This decision would certainly make more sense then paying part of their profits to the lawyers.
That’s it for LED lighting technology news for today. Join LEDOracle tomorrow as we’ll talk about the latest news in the LED lighting revolution.
