Lighting Fixtures Industry to 2016

Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/27/2012 -- Demand for lighting fixtures in the US is projected to increase 7.4 percent annually to $25.1 billion in 2016. This represents a recovery from the declines posted between 2006 and 2011, as both motor vehicle production and construction activity recover from low 2011 levels.

Commercialization of LED fixtures to be significant
The commercialization of light emitting diode (LED) lighting is also having a significant impact on the industry. LEDs are longer-lived and more energyefficient than incandescent lamps but currently only account for a small share of demand. LED-based lighting fixtures are expected to provide especially strong growth through 2016 due to the rapid pace of technological advances in the LED light sources which will make them more energy-efficient, brighter and more affordable. In addition, while some LEDs can be used in place of traditional incandescent bulbs, lighting fixture manufacturers are also developing fixtures which are specifically designed for LEDs and help to optimize their performance.

Lighting fixture products include nonportable and portable fixtures, as well as separately sold parts and accessories such as aftermarket lamp ballasts, fittings, switches, globes and shades. Demand for lighting fixtures is dominated by nonportable fixtures, which accounted for nearly two-thirds of total lighting fixture demand in 2011. Nonportable fixtures derive their dominant position from widespread use in the full range of construction and vehicular applications. Demand for nonportable fixtures is also expected to post the strongest gains through 2016, benefiting from the rebound in construction activity and vehicle production.

Residential market to post strongest growth rate
The residential market is expected to post the strongest gains, nearly doubling between 2011 and 2016, as new residential construction activity rebounds. While demand in new housing will provide the larger share of growth, the residential repair and improvement segment will also rise from low 2011 levels, supported by both increasing housing sales and greater consumer spending.

Throughout every major market segment, products that reduce the energy consumption of lighting will see the best prospects for growth. Much of this can be attributed to regulations banning the future sale of less energy-efficient lighting products, including the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007’s restrictions on the sale of incandescent lamps. These regulatory efforts will spur increased demand for lighting fixtures designed to work with fluorescent, halogen, high-intensity discharge and LED light sources.

US shipments of lighting fixtures to lag those of overseas manufacturers
Growth of US lighting fixture shipments will lag demand over the forecast period, as a significant portion of additional demand is expected to be supplied by overseas manufacturers, especially those in China. In 2011, Chinese firms accounted for over one-half of US lighting fixture imports and supplied almost one-fourth of US lighting fixture demand. Other important sources of US lighting fixture imports include Canada and Mexico.

Liverpool head to Carrow Road for vital fixture v Norwich City | The ...

By Christopher Boulay

Think the season’s finished? Far from it. Liverpool may only have one trophy left to play for, but there certainly is a great deal of pride at stake. The Reds head to Carrow Road to take on Paul Lambert’s Norwich City, in what could turn out to be much more than a “six-pointer.”

Liverpool currently sits in eighth place in the table, one point behind Everton and 16 points below Newcastle – the current holders of fourth place. However, it is not necessarily the races above that are of a concern to the club at the moment. The race in midtable is actually far more pressing. While it doesn’t have any rewards – Liverpool is already going to play in Europa League – it certainly has consequences.

The last time the Reds finished in the bottom-half of the table is a date so long ago that it is not worth mentioning. It can happen again, and with four matches remaining, it is important for the squad not to lose its collective head. The players were brilliant building up in attack against West Brom. They just couldn’t put the ball in the net, and it cost them the game. It’s a common theme with this side, and missed opportunities are a sizable part of why the club currently isn’t competing for Champions League.

With this in mind, a loss against Norwich City would be disastrous. After Norwich, the club plays Fulham on Tuesday. After that? Two matches against Chelsea (one being the FA Cup final) before heading to Wales to finish up the Premier League campaign against Swansea City. This isn’t a particularly comforting run of fixtures, and all of these occur in a little more than one fortnight. At the moment, eight points separate Liverpool from Stoke City in 14th.

So, how does the club right the wrongs and finish well to end the year? Score. Score a lot.

Liverpool drew Norwich 1-1 in the Anfield fixture, as the Canaries equalized courtesy of England squad hopeful Grant Holt. In order to defeat a team as formidable as Norwich, it is vital for the club to continue its attacking ways. The defense has not been without issues this season, but it is sound compared to most. If Liverpool finds it is able to put together a building attack like so many other missed opportunities this year – and finds its scoring touch – the club can roll over Norwich. However, this is much easier said than done.

If Steven Gerrard misses his second consecutive match, the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing may be present in the central midfield. In addition, Maxi Rodriguez and Jordan Henderson could see action, as well.

Up front, it will be necessary for both Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez to put together good performances. Both have looked strong lately, and for Liverpool to take a step forward, manager Kenny Dalglish will need these players to be huge, again.

For Norwich, Lambert’s boys will likely depend on the goal-scoring prowess of Holt. Norwich may not be an overwhelmingly talented side, they know how to poach goals. Despite this, the East Anglian side know how to give them up, as well. The club has a minus-13 goal differential, and has given up 60 goals so far this campaign.

Playing at Carrow won’t be easy. Norwich fans are both classy and loud, and going on current form, it could be a tough ask for Liverpool to take all three points. But to be blunt, the time has passed for excuses. It is time to show if the Reds have anything left in the tank. How the club performs in the next couple of fixtures may shed a good deal of light on how it will look during the FA Cup final. It also may show how much they care about finishing respectably in the Premier League table.

GCU Today » Student Worker of Month: Fair a fixture at Ethington ...

By Bob Romantic
GCU News Bureau

Rebecca Fair is the first face visitors see when they visit Ethington Theatre – even when maybe she’s not supposed to be.

Fair works as a box office assistant at Ethington, which technically means she’s supposed to be there 20 hours a week. Good luck with that. In reality, she’s there twice that amount of time.

The Ethington Theatre is a second home for Rebecca Fair

“The box office is technically open from 9 to 5, so I take care of it. It just makes it easier if I’m here,” said Fair, a sophomore theatre major who has been chosen as the Career Services Student Worker of the Month for April. “There’s times I’m here and do nothing and I sit there and say, ‘OK I’m going to do homework,’ and other times it gets crazy and there are five calls at once.

“Being here in the theatre, I get to see all my peers and friends and the actors I work with. They’re always a lot of entertainment. … And the fact I get to help Rose (Werther) and make it so she doesn’t have to worry about it makes me happy. I take care of tickets and organize things so she can deal with the other 20 million things she does.”

Werther, the project coordinator for the College of Fine Arts and Production, said Fair was in the theatre helping out voluntarily even before there was such a position as box office assistant.

“Part of the reason she was hired is because she wants to be here,” Werther said. “She learned the system on her own. … And in between answering calls, she’s always helping out on other things.”

Without being asked, Fair cleaned and reorganized the Ethington Theatre Box Office, which, she says “I need to do again because it got really dirty.”

She also took on a several-week project sorting through drawers of lights and set plots, and even helps sew costumes during her downtime.

“As a collective theatre group, we all help build the costumes, we all help hang the lights and build the sets,” Fair said. “As a group, everybody helps with everything at some point or another.”

Especially when they are there as often as Fair is.

How to choose a light fixture — AB Home Interiors

Given the vast variety of lighting fixtures available on the market today finding the right one can seem difficult, and overwhelming. Whether you’re building a new home or remodeling an exisiting one there are three things you should always keep into consideration when shopping for a lighting fixture.

Ceiling Lights by Feiss

Depending on the application and needs of  your space you could require a surface mount, a semi-flush mount, chandelier, track, recessed or cove lighting. Sometimes it may call for three or more. Determine how much light you need for the activity of that space, because the primary consideration when choosing lighting is the beam pattern and how that fixture distributes light for your needs.

Barrington Oil Rubbed Bronze Lighting by Feiss

Fixtures will often seem smaller in the store because the showrooms are quite large. Always take measurements to make sure the size and scale will work with the space you are working on. Scale is incredibly important when choosing light and this is an area that most people error on the small side making the room look off. Many manufacturers offer fixtures in a couple of sizes so ask your designer or sales associate about the options that are available that can work for you.

Feiss: Decorative Chandeliers, Lamps, Outdoor Lighting, Bath Lighting

Lighting can get expensive, but remember how important it really is and remember to consider it’s energy consumption. The initial cost may seem pricey but the electric bills will prove otherwise. Choose lighting that works well for your space, is energy efficient and is low maintenance.

What are some of your struggles with lighting?

What about the spaces at the front of the lines? Though looking at
the error I do not think this is the problem.

New Designs on an Old Fixture | Healthy Travel Blog

April 25th, 2012 by

As a follow up to our post on travel philanthropy, a word of caution in regards to a common problem affecting areas trying to recover from destructive events: poor sanitation systems.

Diarrheal diseases, including those linked to improper sanitation, are the second leading cause of death in the developing world, taking 2 million lives annually.   Fecal contamination of drinking water is the main source of most diarrheal illnesses, and is almost inevitable in areas without working toilets and sewage treatment facilities.

Research intended to end this scourge is a small fraction of what is spent on AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. But now the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is funding eight university teams developing new designs for the toilet. Some divert and capture urine, from which water can be recovered. Others produce energy from excrement by turning it into charcoal or gas. None of the new systems require the toilet be connected to a grid for sewage treatment.  One of the conditions of the Gates Foundation funding is that the overall cost of future toilets, including maintenance, cannot exceed 5 cents per user per day.  The benefits, in terms of improved health care and lower mortality, would easily outweigh such a modest investment.

Distributing this new technology will take time, of course. Until a solution is in place, if you are traveling to help out in an area where poor sanitation is an issue, make sure to purify all water before drinking it or washing with it.

yml is very strict about formatting. You need spaces at the front of
nested lines, so
valid_user:
id: 1
screen_name: foobar
email: foobar@gmail.com
password: foobar
remember_me:
authorization_token: 1

I am not sure whether remember_me with no value is permitted.
Possibly best to leave out the whole line. Make sure you do not have
any tabs. I don't know whether this is the cause of the problem
however.

BescotBanter.net: Saddlers Announce First Pre-Season Fixture

Walsall have today (Thursday) announced their first 2012/2013 Pre-Season fixture.

The Saddlers will face West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday, August 7th at 7:45pm.

Ticketing details are still to be announced.

Quick Light Fixture Fix…. «

When we moved into Oak Cottage we loved

all of the attention to detail the builders

had put into it…….all of our floors are

reclaimed heart pine from a Civil War home

in Virginia.  All of the brick of our cottage is

reclaimed from a Civil War home in Alabama.

Loved the reclaimed barn wood covered walls in

the master bath….and so much more.

BUT, all this lovely attention to history

and character; and then they put $2 stock

light fixtures all over the house!

I mean EVERY ceiling fixture were these blah things.

They are kind of like a schoolhouse fixture wannabees….

but can’t. ha!

So, over the years as we have found what we wanted

we have slowly replaced each one of these….except

the two that hang in the master bedroom.

We haven’t been able to find exactly what we want

in there, yet. OK, the truth is we’ve found what we

want; but they cost more than our home. *humph*

We are still operating in the patience department

for those two fixtures.

As we have waited…we have had fun with each fixture

by decorating them in different patterns.

We’ve done black and white checkerboards,

polka dots, etc. We’ve put all kinds of things

on these fixtures….and it really changes their look.

Here are the ones that hang in our master bedroom……

the last two…..waiting to be replaced with the million

dollar fixtures of our dreams. :)

If you have any contractor grade lights in your home

that you would like to spruce up…..

this cannot be simpler!

We literally used Sharpies on all the fixtures.

If you get tired of the design or redecorate you can just

use fingernail polish remover to get the Sharpie off

and redo it with a different design.

Great for kids and teenagers….they can decorate/design

their own light fixtures in their room!

Here’s what you need:

Any plain light fixture….with a glass globe/cover

Sharpies

Here’s how ya do it:

1. Pick up the Sharpie color of your choice.

2. Use it to put designs on the outside of the glass globe.

3. If you goof…use fingernail polish to erase.

I’ll repeat it…since it’s deep and complicated:

1. Pick up the Sharpie color of your choice.

2. Use it to put designs on the outside of the glass globe.

3. If you goof…use fingernail polish to erase.

There you have it!

******

Yoohoooooo, Harmony Morrissey….

where are you? You are the winner of our Supersized Giveaway

and we can’t seem to find you!

We will draw another winner tomorrow if we still haven’t been contacted by Harmony!

Be on the lookout……

Also….if you’d like another chance to win one of our

Mini French Cafe Chalkboards…head on over

to French Country Cottage and enter to win one!

Have a great Wednesday~

Preparations on for DHL Memorial Fixture | DILMUN TIMES

ACTIVITY at Bahrain Rugby Football Club (RFC) in Saar will crank up a notch or two over the coming days, as the annual DHL Memorial Fixture edges ever closer. The history of matches between Bahrain and the DHL Barbarians dates back to 1981, but the occasion petered out for a time in the intervening years. It was re-established in 2009, following the tragic deaths of DHL employees Jason Bresler, David Giles and Mohammed Shafiq in Afghanistan in October 2008.

Since then, DHL Middle East and Bahrain RFC have come together every year to honour the memories of the three men and raise money for local charities.Over the last three years funds raised by the games have been donated to the likes of St Christopher’s Church, the Red Crescent Society and the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA), at the request of the families of Bresler, Giles and Shafiq.Although rejuvenated as a way for the DHL family to pay tribute to their fallen colleagues, with the support of Bahrain RFC, the annual memorial match-up has also firmly established itself as the official sign-off event of the club’s season.

This year in fact, it will take pride of place as one of the feature events in the week-long celebration of Bahrain RFC’s 40th Anniversary.

The anniversary celebrations get underway with a welcome reception for members, returning members and friends of the club on May 14.

This night will also see the unveiling of a special honours board to recognise over 120 international players, including legends of the game like Willie John McBride, David Duckham, JPR Williams, Sean Fitzpatrick and Nick Farr-Jones, who have visited the club in the last 40 years.

May 16 will see the Bahrain RFC Golden Oldies take to the field for an interclub, exhibition game, to be followed by BMMI Schutzenfest and live music from the Dubai-based musician, The Paddyman.

The club’s annual End-of-Season-Ball will take place at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama on May 17, before the DHL Memorial Match the following day.

The festivities will conclude with a Hawaiian-themed party around the club’s swimming pool on Saturday, May 19.

For more information on the DHL Memorial Fixture or any of the other events taking place as part of Bahrain RFC’s 40th Anniversary celebrations, contact the club on 17695809.

Details of the rearranged date will follow in due course.

Celtic shift Ajax fixture | Ghanamma.com

|

Khumbulani Konco

Bloemfontein Celtic have confirmed their League fixture with Ajax Cape Town on May 2 has moved from Botshabelo to the Free State Stadium.

The kick-off time for the game of 19h30 remains the same.

“The date and kick-off remain unchanged. But we will return to Botshabelo Stadium to host SuperSport United there in our last match of the season on May 19,” club CEO Khumbulani Konco said.

“The reason we are moving next Wednesday’s match to Bloemfontein is because of poor floodlights at the Botshabelo Stadium. The match will be played at night and we don’t want to take any chances by using the venue.

“However, our match against SuperSport will be played there because it will be take place during the day. We have already advised the PSL and Ajax about the change of venue and they have no problem about this,” he says.
