Palermo president Zamparini critical of Serie A fixture ...

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has criticised the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for the decision to suspend Serie A fixtures this weekend due to the death of Piermario Morosini.

The FIGC has postponed the entirety of the weekend's football calendar after the Livorno midfielder suffered a suspected heart attack in Saturday's Serie B match against Pescara.

Several Serie A figures have commended the governing body for acting quickly, but Zamparini has indicated that he does not agree with the decision.

"I have always been against such decisions, but it is true that when something like this happens in Italy, it is normal to halt everything," Zamparini told Sky Sport Italia.

"As such, it is normal that they did it this time around.

"From my perspective, it would have been better to continue to play to honour his memory instead of suspending football."

Italian sources report that the FIGC will reschedule the Round 33 of Serie A fixtures for April 25.
