Marseille cleared to postpone Ligue 1 fixture to focus on Bayern ...

Marseille's scheduled Ligue 1 meeting with Montpellier has been pushed back in order to allow the club to focus on their Champions League quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich.

The game had originally been set to take place at the Stade Velodrome on March 31 but it has now been postponed until April 11 at the request of last season's runners-up, who were keen to have the weekend off in between their upcoming clashes with the Bavarians.

"The last French club in the European Cup, OM is defending the position of France in the Uefa index in the interest of French football," a statement issued on the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) website read.

"This ruling ... does not affect the legality and fairness of the competition."

Marseille host Bayern on Wednesday March 28 before arriving at the Allianz Arena for the return leg the following Tuesday.
