The Blues are unbeaten in all competitions since Di Matteo replaced Andre Villas-Boas as boss, winning four games on the bounce.
That is in stark contrast to the closing stages of Villas-Boas' reign, which saw the club win just ONE of their last six league matches.
But Di Matteo's elevation from AVB's No2 to the top job has seen them claim an unlikely place in the last eight of the Champions League and reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
And it means Chelsea's fixture list at the business end of the season is starting to look congested.
However, the Italian is welcoming the pile-up. He said: 'We have to just look at the next game, it's exciting, it's fantastic for the club and players.
"Games come so fast, every three days, but it's very demanding as well, we've planned for the next four weeks.
"All my energy is focused on tomorrow's game with Manchester City, we are in good shape and spirit, that's what matters most, we are in good form.
"We hope we can be where we want to be at end of season, fourth is what's important, if we can get third it would be even better, tomorrow is important to us, then we take on the next game.
"A confident team can be the difference between now and the end of season, every player needs to put the effort in to help the team that will make us stronger."
Chelsea travel to second-placed City tomorrow night needing a win to bring them level on points with fourth-placed Arsenal.
And Di Matteo is well aware of the threat Roberto Mancini's men pose.
He added: "We have a very good team and squad and we've shown that over the years.
"The table shows that City have won more games than us, but we are very competitive, we do have experience and our players have played many important and crucial games.
"City are very strong at home, everybody knows that, but every run comes to an end."
