Kisumu RFC will not take part in today's Kenya Cup fixtures that will see eight clubs make up for missed fixtures at the beginning of the season.
Club secretary Paul Okongâ™o, said Kisumu RFC will hold out for a walk over against defending champions Kenya Harlequin, who failed to honour the fixture in the first place during the Kenya Rugby Union stalemate with member clubs at the beginning of the season.
Kisumu faces the prospect of having the fortunes turned against them and have the walkover handed to Quins, but Okongâ™o has rubbished such claims saying such a move would be affair to his club.
Kisumu RFC have rued the finances that would be used to make a repeat trip to Nairobi and the energy it would drain from the players. This is because, Kisumu have to travel to Nairobi and then head straight back to Nakuru for the 10 a-side tournament scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Only five points separate Kenya Harlequin and second placed Nakuru RFC who hold 55 points which means the champions cannot afford to drop the two points that come with a walkover. Kisumu RFC are firmly rooted at the bottom of the league table with 13 points, 14 a drift of Homeboyz RFC who are on ninth position in the ten team league.
Also slated for Friday is tie pitting Mean Machine against fourth placed KCB at the Ruaraka Grounds, Nondies will host Nakuru RFC at the Jamhuri Grounds while Bill Githinji will pay a visit to his former club Impala at the Impala grounds as Homeboyz take on the Gazelles.
The only two teams that will not be in action will be Strathmore and Mwamba who had honoured their fixture in the first weekend of the league. This will give them advantage in the Nakuru tournament where they will field fresh players.
Nationwide league semi final return matches will be held on April 14.
The final will be held together with the Universities League Final a week later at RFUEA Grounds.
